NSW: Post mortem to be conducted on remains found in shark

A post-mortem will be conducted on human remains discovered in a 370kg tiger sharkcaught off the New South Wales central coast.

Police say four men were fishing off the continental shelf 48km from Blacksmiths, offLake Macquarie, when they caught the shark about 2pm (AEST) yesterday.

The men took the shark to the Belmont Yacht Club where it was weighed, then returnedto the Blacksmiths Boat Ramp where they cut the shark open.

Inside they discovered human remains, including a skull, arm and pelvis.

Crime scene and a forensic pathologist attended the scene last night and the remainswere taken to Newcastle morgue.

Police says it's not known whether the remains are male or female, and a post mortemwill be conducted tomorrow morning.
